variation on the running in question

Ok, many threads about the running in procedures on new cars. the manual says and I quote "From 1200 miles onwards, engine and road speeds can be gradually increased."

So my question is, when is a car actually finished with its running in and you can 'put your foot down' ?

A diesel will take at least 10k miles before it gives it's best power/mpg, maybe even 20k.

Don't worry too much.

Your 530d 'tight' will still be quicker than a well run in 520d.
