Cool Canadian 535 Owners - a question

Is your 535 equipped with headlight washers? Everything I have researched says they are not included on any of the packages, nor is it listed as an option. The dealer I ordering it says it is standard. Can someone from Canada tell me?

I have my order in tonight subject to price confirmation on 3 special order items (things not available on the 535 packages here, but available on the 550 e.g. ventilated seats). I am wondering if headlight washers need to be added too.

In the USA they are part of the cold weather package.

Thanks everyone. I will report my final order config when it's done.

Soon Ex,

I'll be interested to hear if you can get the ventilated seats as special order on the 535 as I also noticed it wasn't an option on anything but the 550. And, I'd like to know how much it cost as well if you don't mind.

As for headlight washers, CanadianGold is the only Canadian I know with one so he should be able to answer but my guess is it's automatic in Canada.

A lot of other BMW models have them standard in Canada whereas it's in the cold weather package in the US.

You pay $400 for a special order and then you can go to town on the configuration, including anything that is on the 550i. In the end, my 535 costs the same as a 550i, but I got the car I wanted with the engine I really wanted. I simply found the in-line 6 engine way more fun to drive, and since we can't open it up the engine as those in Germany can, I believe I'll have more fun with the 6.

My Canadian order (note to US folks, our packages/configurations are very different) is as follows:

535i
Sapphire Black Metallic
Dakota Black Leather
Technology Package
Executive Package
Sport Package
Dynamic Handling Package
Option: Heads Up Display
Option: Rear Heated Seats
Special Order: Ventilated Seats ($980)
Special Order: Headlight Washers
Special Order: 4 Zone Climate Control
Special Order: Power Rear Sunshade
Special Order: Manual Rear Side Sunshades

This has been described as a one of a kind order (translated: why didn't you just order the 550!).

^ Sounds beautiful, just a bit surprised you wouldn't go with the 550i if it ends up costing you the same.

None the less congrats, how long is the wait expected to be?

It's an August build so September is the expected delivery date.

For me, I found the 550 alot of engine for what will mainly be mainly city driving. It's an intoxicating engine, no doubt, but I just found the 535 a joy to push hard. I just did not want to sacrifice the extra interior features.

headlight washers are kinda retarded. they seem to do nothing but waste washer fluid.

I have the washers on my Audi. Go on a highway drive when the roads have been salted and there's slop spraying on your windshield and lights....they make a big difference. Yes, they use a lot of fluid, but on a highway at night in or after a storm...I like to see as clearly as possible.

Thanks for the info. So, since you have headlight washers on your configuration are you confirming that it's an option and not standard?

Headlight washers are not an option (as in, it does not show up on the dealer's option list). It is a special order item which means that you pay $400, then pick and choose anything available on 550i that is not on the 535i. The dealer has to call BMW HQ for a price, and you will be quoted. So headlight washers (or other items that I list as special order) is available for a price. I paid $400 then ordered 3-4 other special order items. I think that the washers were $350.

Please say you got the 6spd to go along with that incredible setup. The N55 is just such a joy to push and more then engine for our streets.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm planning on ordering one next year. My 1 convertible is getting a bit small in the backseat for my ever growing kids. I'm holding out until the M-Sport package is available.
