Retaining matt finish on steering wheel
A bit OCD admittedly! but I like to keep the matt effect of the steering wheel.
I've covered a mere 20000 miles now in my F10 and by ensuring I've always got clean hands before driving I've managed I think quite well to retain pretty much the matt effect of the wheel. I've also used the BMW branded leather cleaner on a couple of occasions and a wipe with a damp cloth on a few others. just wondering what (if) other do to keep that new matt finish as the miles pile on. |

I'm at about 28000 km or 18000 miles and mine still looks matt. The only cleaner I've done is quick interior detailer.

Engine degreaser mixed 2:1 with water.
The shine is dead skin and grease off your hands building up in layers over the top of the leather. You just need to get it off. |

yes trick seems to be to just keep it and clean and not let anything build up.
I've seen cars with slightly higher mileages or even very high mileages and they have very shiny steering wheels. Mine is still as matt as the centre part of the wheel at the moment, I am careful though (OCD....) to ensure I have clean hands when driving the car. |

I used to have an office job and therefore hands/clothes were always clean, therefore never had this issue with previous cars.
Now I have my own property development/construction company unfortunately the F10 steering is quite shiny, as I sometimes have to use the car when i'm not as clean as I would like to be! Tried getting my local valet shop to clean it when I took it for a wash and wax but they didn't really shift it... Hesitant of trying the engine degreaser idea, wouldn't this be too aggressive for the leather?
