Reflector headlights build around halogen technology are totally unsuitable for use with either hid or led aftermarket bulbs, they will scatter light all over the place to the danger & detriment of oncoming traffic. If you want led headlights, the only sensible & legal solution is to buy headlights designed for the job, and install those, unfortunately a set of BMW led headlight will probably set you back well over £1k, and that's if you can find any.

I couldn't agree more; my commute home is blighted by these after market bulbs that cause no end of dazzling. They are a danger to other road users.

i would agree that that there are a lot of HID out there in reflector housing , but the BMW is a projector headlamp not a reflector and if done in a legal and considerate manner is as good as a new headlamp unit.
just out of curiosity is it a straight swap for the headlamp units ???

you also need self levelling for HID as well. if not it will potentially dazzle and fail the MOT test.
