BMW F10 5 Series Throttle Response Hesitation

Has anyone taken their car to the dealer to get this resolved, Its becoming an annoyance now.

The BMW F-10 Five Series was introduced in model year 2010 and is still in production today. And though it’s just coincidence that the name sounds like a fighter jet, the F-10 practically performs like one as well. Unfortunately, some vehicles have been known to have some throttle response problems, including skipping and hesitation, which can affect the stellar engine performance a Bimmer driver expects.
Some drivers have experienced hesitant gas pedals. When they try to take off from a dead-stop, they will push the gas pedal but the car doesn’t go forward right away. It hesitates for a moment and then responds. There is a small delay from activating the gas to the car actually moving.
In some cases, the throttle response is very hesitant and the pedal seems to “stick.” The driver has to push it down harder and then ends up surging out of the stop. It is kind of like a drag racer, but obviously not to that extent. The car bursts forward rather than taking off smoothly.
The F-10 five-series has advanced technology which allows the car to “learn” how the driver activates the throttle. It will adjust to meet the habits of the owner. Therefore in some cases of a hesitant throttle, the car could have simply learned incorrectly, and the computer needs to be reset by a trained BMW service technician. But since this is a relatively new vehicle series other causes could still be identified. If you experience any throttle response issues, visit a nearby BMW repair expert to properly diagnose and solve the problem.

I will take it 2 weeks from now and report on the issue, I got the car CPO around March, and well it just feels SO DAMN SLOW. Especially compared to 328 2015 I drove the other day. I mean its only 450 pounds extra, can it really make that much of a difference? (Okay maybe it does)

But pressing the gas I get a second lag response, and if for example I do press the gas pedal it takes forever for the RPM to increase to start driving off. I have almost given up on comfort mode, and stuck with sports mode.

So in general yes I feel the same way you do about this "lag" that the car does not respond fast enough when gas pedal is pushed.

Thanks this did the job, I can feel the power already on comfort mode...such a strange fix.

Also I got a BMS Stage 1 coming in tomorrow so I will enjoy it tomorrow =] (Do you own a tuner?)

I have to try this on my 550i soon. The acceleration in comfort (normal mode) is slightly choppy.

I have a bms stage 1 on the 550i and it made the beast even more beastly.

Glad that worked for you!

I did that reset last week and definitely can feel the difference.
I've heard it goes away over time, but maybe that's not true. Either way, it at least helps and the car is much better from 0 now.

I purchase a JB4 and that seem to got rid of the hesitation, plus the added boost help.

JB4 will add power and it also has a throttle remap to get rid of the hesitation

How's that bms stage 1 feel? You have a 535 or 550? Did it fix the choppiness of the throttle?

You have a 550 or 535? What kind of hesitation did you used to feel ?

I have a '12 (N63) 550.

Tbh, I think a lot of it has to do with the transmission. The more I read about this issue it seems that is the source as opposed to the actual throttle response. When the car is cold it's VERY choppy and bumpy but after it warms up a few minutes, golden and no issues. Kinda annoying, but I don't really get after people off the line until I'm warmed up and it's no big deal. I have school zones to go through before I can even get up past 35mph anyway.

Got a 2011 N55 535i...and also installed BMW stage 1...i tried doing the temporary reset with the accelerator...
None of this made any difference...car is still hesitant and it's annoying the hell out of me. Might try installing the Sprint booster...see if that helps..

or might have to take it into a BMW specialist and get them to update the transmission software (if there is such a thing)...or reset throttle adaptation values..

This doesn't work for the N52 non-turbo. I tried it 3 times and nothing seems to feel different.

Wait for xhp flash tune for transmission. That should fix this issue.

So what have you done in the mean time to help your acceleration and throttle response
