Another downpipe thread

Whats up? Long time lurker first time posting here, figured it was time to join the party

I'm in the process of deciding which downpipes to install in my 2014 550xi. I got the meisterschaft catback exhuast installed within a week from getting the car.

From what I have read most of the F10s have the AR Design catless downpipes installed, but does anybody know if the Meisterschaft one is any good or different? Will there be a difference in the sound produced between the Meisterschaft and the AR Design?

Evolution racewerks has a catless dp, I would ad that to your list of potential.

How does it sound in comparison to the AR Design? I'll be sure to check it out.

Achal3241, sorry about crashing your thread but something I'm curious about. I have a 2011 F10 N63 with a BMS stage 1 installed and love it, many folks blame a lot of the problems with the N63 to be excessive under hood heat.

I'm curious if anyone has anyone done any kind of thermo testing to see if Catless dp's will change the temperature characteristics of that engine?

The cats keep in a TON of heat so it does contribute to under hood temps. (Probably why my engine cover is yellow How it effects performance is hard to say by how much... I've beat on my car repeatedly and it seemed pretty consistent. As always though less heat seems to be better. If you go aftermarket you also have the opportunity to ceramic coat or wrap the downpipes too.

make sure to get them ceramic coated... i made the mistake not doing it now i have to take them out and do ceramic coating... the heat under hood is crazy.

Im confused about the heating issue.
There are heatshields that cover the dps.

Mine are on.

I'm not convinced the extra heat is hurting the car performance wise for a daily driver. The potential to remove that heat going catless can't do anything but help with that and prolonging the life of all components under the hood. I will say though with some of our higher end builds at the shop we've melted down cats pretty quickly with more boost and insufficient air flow.

FYI, ESS Tuning also has downpipes... not sure how they compare to anyone else, but id have to imagine everyone has pretty much the exact same design, just different steel at this point. I will say his are very nice and made in house, but wont say if they are better or worse as I have nothing to go buy nor back to back dyno results. Im going to try a set shortly, just need to stop buying other crap first so the car fund gets more love

So I've pretty much decided to go with the AR downpipes, just a few questions.

I am assuming since I have a 2014 I would get the slip fit ones correct?

Also, what is the extra wideband O2 bung and extra EGT bung 1/8 NPT thing? Do I need those?
