Steering Wheel vibrations/oscillations?

I have seen a few posts that allude to a Steering Wheel vibration/oscillation issue with the new 5 series but my thread search did not show a lot of posts. Was there a issue on the early 5's that has been resolved or is there still a issue?
Thanks for any info!!

Never heard of this issue. The steering wheel will vibrate if you have LDWS or blind spot monitoring system to alert you.

I'd be interested in reading more about this, but this is the first I have heard of the issue.

There were lots of posts on a "pulling to the right" issue. But that wasn't an oscillation problem. That was a direction tracking problem.

That may be what I saw some posts on. Just wondering if the 5 had a similar issue that the new 3 has.

The 5 has issues, but this isn't one of them

Some 5 series and the new 3 series have the steering wheel vibration problem between 60 to 70 MPH. Sometimes tire balancing fix the problem, sometime new tires and sometime bent rims is the problem. There was a few post that the dealer tried all 3 fixes above and the problem was still there. If I remember right, there was one BMW buy back I read on the forum due to this problem.

My 528 is currently at the dealership getting fixed for this issue. This would be the fourth attempt to fix the steering wheel vibration at 60-80 MPH.

Ill give you guys an update once I get an update from the dealer (who hasnt been answering me! )

I thought this was an RFT issue common on all recent BMWs, no? I have that slight rumble at 70 and then it goes away once i go faster or slower. It hasn't bothered me enough to take it in. Perhaps I should.

You should take it in. The loaner 528 that I have now does not have the steering wheel vibration at 80 MPH and at 90 and at 100 and at 120...

My two week old 535xi have a slight shake in the steering wheel at 60 to 70 MPH, its not that bad, I am hoping it goes away by itself. Like you, it doesnt bother me enough for me to take it in. The loaner 550xi I had came with RFT as well and it had no vibration at all at any speed.

I sold my 6 month old F10 528I as I just couldn't live with the vibration any longer. The dealers agreed the car had a problem but couldn't find a fix. They tried different wheels and tyres and much more, all to no avail. They thought it may have been related to the sports suspension option. Fortunately the dealer bought the car back at a fair price.

I have the same issue, they have re-balanced the tires without any improvment....
I will go back to them and make them fix it....

Good luck trying to get this resolved. From my research there is little that can be done - the choice seems to be live with it or take a big hit and flick the problem and the car to a new owner.

I have driven several F 10's with the same problem, yet, the owners are not concerned - and don't notice the issue or worry about it. A great test is to put a half full water bottle on the pasanger seat or in the consule drink holders and watch it go

My conclusion is BMW will do little to find a resolve as only a minority of car enthusiasts owners even realise there is a problem.
