Battery discharge while stationary warning?

Hi,

I went on a 1 mo. holiday and the car stayed in the garage. When I came back and turned on the ignition I received the following message:

"Increased battery discharge while stationary, some electrical consumers may have been switched off"

I had no problems starting the car and it seems to have been a warning which since the restart went away, but still - is this normal?

Thanks

I will go with the assumption that is normal after 1 month in the garage. I would also check to find out on which battery voltage the car throws that message.

But yeah one month is long I think and might be normal. Does it give you the massage now as well?

Thanks - no, it went away on the next engine start and I haven't seen it since.

Probably its because of "sitting" that long. Because either way even if idle, the car systems work on minimum consumption as every other electric/electrical appliance.

On my e60 i was having that message repeatedly even after i changed the battery twice in a month but then we found out that it was because of a faulty engine starter which was drawing lots of power and draining the battery, till one day the car would not start up. Replaced the starter and now its all good.

While we were traveling for three weeks earlier this summer, my car was connected to BMW's Battery Tender, yet when I went to start the car for the first time, it gave me the same message. That tells me the message is activated by the length of time the car has not been driven rather than actual battery condition. The car was fine and the message disappeared after I restarted it. Sound like Windows?
