Warning from BMW for the new 6 Series about TIRES

Original BMW Accessories
The all-new 6 Series Coupe has been designed and engineered for exhilarating performance. But to make it truly your own, enhance it with Original BMW Accessories. Our high-quality mirror caps give the exterior mirrors an eye-catching look. And to make it appear even more powerful, the 20-inch Cross Spoke 312 Ferric Gray wheels boast a sporty finish.
Note: Driving over rough or damaged road surfaces, as well as debris, curbs and other obstacles can cause serious damage to wheels, tires and suspension parts. This is more likely to occur with low-profile tires, which provide less cushioning between the wheel and road. Be careful to avoid road hazards and reduce your speed, especially if your vehicle is equipped with low-profile tires.

This looks to me like a partial acknowledgment!

More like a confirmation of a known fact. Low profile tires have always been prone to damage more easily. This didn't just start with BMW and low profile tires.

That warning appears in BMW's US promotional materials for most models, usually in conjunction with sports suspension and low-profile, high-performance tires. It's been a concern addressed by BMW for at least a dozen years. Even so, people buy cars with this kind of equipment, drive them on our crumbling roads, and then seem surprised when tires blow out, wheels dent and break, and suspension parts are damaged. I think this is the main reason sport suspension isn't offered on the F10.

Similar warnings have been in print by BMW here since long before runflats. Nothing new

It has been an potential issue for all wheels of this type forever. Those comments are well known and contain nothing new.
