tyre pressures
I checked my tyre pressure this am and found that they had 38psi all round. I think they should have 2.0bar at front and 2.3bar at rear. Which I reckon is about 29psi and 34psi. Am I right on this? I have the 328 style wheels with 245/45/18 tyres.

Not sure about Ireland, but over here the government requires manufacturers to put a sticker on the driver's door jamb with recommended pressures. Typically I find the BMW recommended pressures to be too high, but 29/34 sounds a little low (the 29 seems low). I usually run 32 all around, just because it works well for me and is high enough to keep the TLPWS from going off (I think it goes off at 27 psi).

Check your doorsill, it should have the correct pressure for different wheel sizes if not refer to the User Manual

I will run 36 PSI all round, it worked well on the M3 2010, so I will do the same with the 550i M sport.

I have the same tyre as yours. According to the tag on the door sill, what you've written is accurate. I've been running my tyres at the above pressures.

depends alot on your rim+tire spec, the lower profile the tire, the higher PSI u need.. also the higher your average load the higher PSI
i dont follow the recommended settings as they are generalized.. you get a better idea through feel of driving it and visual inspection im at 31.2/ 33 on 19's 8-225/45 9-255/40 summer non-RF, low average load you save gas at higher PSI but itll be a little bumpier also |

LUVMy92,
Did you feel that running the pressure at 32/32 affect handling and ride comfort at all? I feel that my pressure of 35/35 all around is too high especially feeling irregularities from the highway in the rear of the car at 70-80 mph. I decreased it to 34/33 F/R last night and will try it today. I have the size 245/45/18 wheels with Continental SSR all season RFT on my 535 xdrive. |
