Million Dollar Exhaust Question...Please Help
Hey all,
I am writing this post because the idea of an axle back/cat back exhaust systems for my 2011 535xi has consumed my life for the past few weeks. I don't want anything too crazy sounding (yet) so I think axle back is the way to go (for now). I have narrowed it down to 3 options: 1. Eisenmann Race (may be too expensive for just axle back) 2. Remus sport (they do not make a race version for f10. Fear it may be too quiet/the tips are pretty damn ugly) 3. Custom exhaust from Benchmade Proper (only axle back with Vibrant mufflers and custom piping. Is Vibrant good?) Pretty much any input/videos/pictures that are not on the internet already (seen them all) would be extremely helpful. Or any other options that I haven't thought of would be nice too. MAX $2500 for the system Thanks guys. |

You could get a turbo-back system for less than your max price at Benchmade Proper. I'm getting mine installed next week.

I, also think REMUS tips are ugly. The big logo, the carbon fiber strip, and the double tube and flat end (instead of slanted). Looks like something you would put on low end American cars.
Don't know how much the bench proper custom system cost. But my magnaflow custom system was a really good deal. Catback or Axlback won't make a difference. The resonator on our cars doesn't eliminate the sound much. It is mainly the 2 mufflers in the back. I knew because I originally took out resonator and replaced with straight pipes. No difference. If I were you, just do Axle back system. |

If you want something already pre-fabricated. MEGAN racing has a system for about $900. It is still more than the custom system, but already a pretty good price.
One good thing is that there are 3 different tip selections you can pick. I think there is a thread about this. |

I would definitely do a turbo back, but don't want to remove the cat (does this remove the cat and become illegal in VA?). What about the Vibrant axle back from Benchmade? Anyone know anything about Vibrant?

sounds like you have narrowed yourself down to just 1 and 3. Is the $2500 installation included? if so, #1 is going to be tight. So that leaves you with #3.

All exhaust systems name brand or not will offer you only a few more hp's.
I think you should look into BMP and do the Vibrant axle back system. It should run you more then a $1000 installed going axle back. They use the Ultra Quiet Resonator as the exhaust I think which gives you a tight sounding tone if that's what you're looking for. |

I'm going turbo-back but having BMP install a high flow cat. I didn't want to delete the cat because my vehicle is registered in VA also.

That sounds pretty solid. If you are getting it done this weekend, do you mind letting me know how it goes (maybe pics and videos)? I'm really curious about that sort of setup. Thanks.
