okay fellow forum members...need your help. talked about this before but i'm running into some ordering issues.

so i'm trying to order a pair of M5 carbon fiber side skirt extensions. now the vendor is telling me they have to be M5 skirts or they will not fit. i remember discussing this with valbmw back in the day and we both confirmed with BMW part #'s there are only two types of skirts...Msport/M5 and non M. but not i'm getting mixed answers. for those of you who already have the carbon fiber skirt extensions could you chime in if you had issues with yours not fitting? i've researched a bit and now getting some results that the M5 skirts are a bit more aggressive(more flare) than the Msport skirts? i can't confirm that unless those of you who have encountered this could chime in! that woud be greatly appreciated as i don't want to order the wrong skirts if this is true. the vendors in fact cannot confirm if the Msport skirts are the same as the M5 and will not mockup to confirm.

to me they look identical unless you guys can confirm otherwise??

here's how i'm starting to see that vendors out there have no clue about our cars! tell me i'm wrong but 2011-2016 side skirts will fit on any F10 series whether it's M5 or not right?

I checked the parts catalog.

F10 M Sport door sill cover, primed, left: 51 77 8 048 685
F10 M Sport door sill cover, primed, right: 51 77 8 048 686

F10 M5 door sill cover, primed, left: 51 77 8 048 685
F10 M5 door sill cover, primed, right: 51 77 8 048 686

Valid for both F10 LCI and before.

So finally got confirmation from a fellow forum member as he took his carbon side skirt extension off his F10 msport and transferred it to his new M5

LOL, bro, most vendors are clueless. The M5 is different for the front bumper ONLY, same as it was on the E60. The side skirts and rear bumper are interchangeable, the front bumper is different only because the M5 is wider at the front than a non-M5. For the E60 the M5 was 10 mm wider, so an M5 bumper would need a lot of modification to fit a non-M

yeah, checked realoem and all msport side skirts are the same with the M5 for F10. no change

I just used the picture for reference. What's great is I did get my forum buddy to confirm fitment as he transferred from his 550 to his M5 so that's all I needed to confirm

Hey Gene,

Thank you for your inquiry and I’m looking forward to helping you out. Yes, the M5 style vs M-sport are different. The side skirt extensions are typically made specific for different side skirts. Is the manufacture of the extensions stating that it will fit the replica M5 style side skirts or is it specific for the OEM M5 side skirts. That matters as well.

realoem is never wrong, if the part #'s are the same, the parts are the same. Don't worry too much about it, they are the same

so i found this in the M5 board and some guy who purchased an M5 compared it to his 550 and took a gazillion pictures but here it is. the silver is the 550 and the white is the M5. looks pretty identical to me!

The only response you received that I would question is the one that mentioned "M5 Style vs M-Sport". I'd interpret that to mean the former being a replica side skirt which may be different from an OEM part.

If they fit an M5, they'll fit an M-Sport and vice versa.
