With tape, but the shop used some special tape that they claim is much better than the 20lb tape I picked up at Home Depot. Supposedly stands up to moisture better than the stuff sold at Home Depot.

I used 3M tape, but it never stuck. I guess I could've done a better job to force the tape to stick, but I just never bothered. I've had the lip on for a year and a half now without any issues. The front of the lip hangs slightly, but you can't notice unless you get up close and personal

Personally the 3m tape didn't do justice. I end up screwing in 6 screws in additional to the bolts. The screw closed the gaps 100% and looks very clean. I'm 110% satisfied now

Drilled through? Or in pre-existing holes?

I was able to put my pinky finger between the bumper and lip as the 3m tape didn't hold. After screwing in 2 screws, zero gap now.
Before added the screws, I losses all the nuts to the bolts so the nut was flush to the bottom of the bolt to release tension. Once I hand tighten the screws then I tighten all the nuts to the bolts.

Help
So I am looking under the front bumper of my 2013 550i M-sport and have a few questions.
I was looking at the cover also attached the the bumper how do you get behind it to be able to hold the nut to screw in the bolts? are yall jacking up the car to get under it easier or just working from ground level? Great write up just an important step missing that I need to understand about how to secure the bolts under the car. Thanks, Craig |

Thanks for this write up, my Lip came yesterday, I will try to install it this weekend. I will also go to the hardware store and pick up your nut/bolt set.
Wish my luck, 3M tape in hand . Will take pictures and videos. |

Hi Everyone,
Just installed my lip. Thanks for the info and help. I bought the same screws that the OP posted. I used 3M tape, I also used screws to drill into the front bumper to hold the Lip in even more. Trickiest part was removing the 3M tape then putting the bumper up. We placed the screws in the same pattern (Lip between the two washers). The Locking washer worked very well! I ordered the Lip from the same person OP ordered from as well. My LIP came with screws, I only used the 6-8 screws that attached to my bumper did not use the rest. My HomeDepot screws worked great as well (same ones as the OP) After the Install: Will try to post pics in day light. Overall very happy, drilling into the bumper reinforced the lip even more, no gaps. This was somewhat difficult because the alignment is important, but having two people helps Greatly, I attached two screws (loosely first), then peeled off the tape, slowly placed it in place. Note: My car is stock, stock height, wheels/rims etc.. I must say, it makes the front bumper look lower, overall great compliments! Next on my list is the Gloss Black grill (Dual slat) with the //M colors. |

I had the lip along with a drop...so it was even worse for me. I tend to back up since the back is much higher and can often go above the curb. But be careful, as you might hit the exhaust.

looks SWEET! anymore shots of the skirts from different angles i'd suggest if you're not planning on some aftermarket wheels to add some spacers to get the wheels flush!
