Coolant type for F10 550?

My fiance is taking the car on a road trip this weekend and as I was checking things over I noticed that the coolant level in the reservoir was below the "min" marker.

Does anyone know if it would be ok to top this up using, for example, pentosin? Autozone indicates that this will work with a 2012 550. (http://www.autozone.com/antifreeze-r...?checkfit=true)

I'm trying to avoid buying from the dealer. But are there issues with using non Oem or with mixing different types of coolant?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would say Pentosin itself is good to go. Good for aluminum components. But on mixing... I'm not sure what is in your car to start with.

If you are never going to experience cold temp and if you're up for a coolant flush, you could just use distilled water, but it will dilute your antifreeze properties.

Thanks for the reply. The coolant in there now is whatever the dealer uses. I will call the dealer and see what they recommend.

FYI ever ever mix red and green coolant, here is the oem for a decent price

Also I never really trust the auto parts store car fitment checker.
