Water noises in the drivers pillar??????
Am I imagining this or is it real?
The current F11 and I assume 10 has slightly more flared what I would describe as "vanity panels" at either side of the windscreen that are designed to allow the capture of water. Thing is where does it go? I'm sure I can hear it running past my head in the pillar above the door frame and it gurgles! Tell me please it's not just me hearing things when it's raining. My previous F11 (non gurgling) had the same design but this has been enhanced hence my "more flared"comment. Feedback please..... |

Never heard anything like this (F10 though). Is the door fit perfect at the top - and is it something to do with the roof bars (fit or design)?

I had a similar noise in my X5, along with some fluid on the drive behind the drivers side wheel after leaving the car parked for a while.
Turned out that a drainage point under the car was blocked and water was building up in a channel in the rear of the wing panel |

Yes, I have the pano sunroof, drainage could be different. There's defo a water noise not perhaps in the pillar, it's more in the horizontal area above the top of the door.
Another thing that annoys me is the dripping of water into the seat when the (in particular) rear doors are opened. It seems like a basic issue and I'm surprised it's been carried over from my previous version. Clearly the rubber seal at the top of the door isn't waterproof and the water seeps in and falls on my lovely leather when released by the door opening. Just proves I guess that German design isn't perfect...... |
