Monitoring boost PSI and other info

Is there any plug in device or similar item that I can use to monitor the boost PSI on the 535i?

there's apps you can DL to your phone but you'll need a wireless Dongle to plug into your car

Torque Pro is one i've seen a lot of guys posting they are using. it's pretty accurate as it's giving you real time data. you still need a Dongle to plug in to your OBD port for the app to communicate with the car. it's been awhile since i looked into this but i'm sure there's probably better apps better dongles now

Do you know if the torque and HP numbers these apps give are real?

Cause my car is chipped and was curious if it would be real

somebody posted about the P3 vent gauge and i looked it up. i really like it. you can get it to where it just shows boost or one that shows a multitude of different readings. they range from $229 to $389...

I forgot to mention this too lol! This would be on the higher cost of things vs DL an app and a wireless dongle

I bought this OBDII scanner from amazon and use the free torque app on an android phone, of which, boost in psi is one of the displays. Total investment was about $40 as I bought a $10 android phone to use this with. This particular model is wi-fi only so it wouldn't interfer with my bluetooth phone.

Shouldn't a mechanical boost gauge read boost psi if you connect on the intake side of the charge pipe?

Nice! That's what I did on my Turbo Integra. But it was the liquid filled mechanical gauge. Supposedly that gave the most accurate reading. Not sure how a mechanical gauge would look in a BMW or where you can put it to make it look OEM and not make it look too tacky looking ? our 5 series is a luxury performance and not a Honda/Integra

Isn't there a coding mod that shows a "performance" screen? I recall it shows HP.

I don't believe that is correct for being custom coded. But I do believe that 550i isn't one that it works with. 535i does I think. There is info in coding forums.

That is not correct. Actually F10 M5 prior to 2014 never even supported the Sport Display option. The sport display can be coded on any NBT and most CIC Fxx vehicles.
