I was curious why your car (from the screen shots that you posted) has version 3.4.31 where as mine has 3.5.4
Why doesn't it let you update to 3.5.4? I did see a thread sometime ago about someone who was having problems updating to the latest version But great it works anyway |

Good question. Maybe your car is newer than mine. Mine was made in December 2010 (I think). The important thing for me is that the glitch with my phone is resolved. It really had me perplexed because it made no sense. There must have been something in my phone settings that was hidden, as I compared my phone to my wife's and all settings were identical...

The important thing is that it works, but one of the ideas of the Combox is to allow upgrades to support the new phones as they come out without having to have an expensive dealer upgrade

UPDATE: I finaly got to the bottom of this. It seems like my yesterday's celebrations were premature, as this afternoon the phonebook went again! So I though to myself, what have I done since resetting the phone (and the address book worked in the car) and up to the moment where it stopped working? Well, I had added pictures to some of my contacts. this, for some reason stopped the phone sharing messages and the address book with the car. The messages stopped being updated (so only messages from up to last night were displayed) and the address book went. After I removed the pictures the address book and the messages synchronized again. Weird...

FIXED
Sorry for not checking back guys, just to let you know after two wasted trips and precious time out of my diary leaving the car with BMW Bradford, and after countless arguments and being subsequently fobbed off by this useless dealer.. I had the problem resolved by... HUDDERSFIELD BMW (Sandal)
Honestly Hudds BMW are the complete opposite of Bradford in every way, pollite, courteous, very professional and not once did they make me feel the problem was a minor one. They took it very seriously and fixed it as part of the first oil service a few weeks ago. It turns out it was simply a setting unticked in the Office menu. Now I can listen to my emails on the move and with the amount of miles I'm doing (17k in the last 4.5 months), this is a very important feature. So the moral of the story, if you're ever unhappy with a BMW dealer, use a different one. |
