What is straight piping?

I had a resonator delete done on my exhaust setup and he put two straight pipes instead of the resonator. Is there any negative repercussions for this? Should I get an xpipe? This is the section im talking about is the GREEN:

You will need a crossover or x-pipe of some sort. It helps the engine breathe and gets the exhaust out quicker. There are other benefits... Search x-pipe...

Is there anything bad about running the straight duals I have now?

I heard the X-Pipe will drastically lower the raspy roaring sound it makes now.

You will lose exhaust scavenging which helps move more air through the engine. A car engine is basically nothing more than an air pump. More air in, more air out, bigger BANG.
