Here is the link at fuelly for U.S. 535d.

I think it is hard to hit the EPA rating with our cars because I'm sure no one drives them the way the EPA tests them. I've noticed it with my new car. It is averaging about 14 L/100 km, all city driving but is rated for 11.8 L/100 km. I expect the fuel mileage will be poorer because (a) the car is brand new and (b) the winter temps of -22F over the past few days is likely much lower than the temperature car is tested at. In the current weather, the auto start/stop function is not active. I don't know if the EPA engages that system to determine fuel economy though. I should say that my car hasn't been in the sport mode, but for a few times since new and I tend to drive conservatively in the current snow and ice conditions.

Our 2011 Honda Odyssey actually beats its EPA city rating, but if I drove it more aggressively, I doubt it would.

2014 550 vs 535

Its a 2014 550 - Space Gray

It is lowered on ACS springs

My 2013 535xi was tuned but it can't compare to the 550. The twin turbo V8 is such a beast of an engine.

Alan[/QUOTE]

I'm very interested in your comment about comparing your tuned 535xi to your 550.

I'm wrestling with getting another 535xi (2015) and tuning it (as I feel the 535xi is under powered), or going for a 2015 550xi. While I guess the tuned 535xi will get better mileage, I can't but wonder if tuning an N55 is "forced", as compared to the natural power and spirited ability of the 550?

I drive 80% city, like to have fun fairly often but not a super aggressive driver. I had a 335 N55, I miss the pull that car had (I even wanted more HP and torque for that car), hence I'm just not feeling it in my 2012 535xi. (otherwise a very nice car)

Could you expand on your comment about not being able to compare the two cars?

Thank

Bard

Bimmerfest has a very informative thread on the different 5 series spec trannys used in the lineup. 535 tranny spec is not setup to take much more additional power.
