Gotcha.

Hopefully they did a clean job on the removal and reinstallation of the N63.

Was scheduled for CCP in July due to dealer being slammed. Took car in on March 24th for really hard cold start.

SA said they would look at it and call in one day. 3 days later they called and said they ordered parts for it. Was gonna be ready for pick up April 4th.

Then they called and said the cameras were malfunctioning. Had to order more parts.

Picked car up today. Laundry list of items including all 8 injectors were completed.

Feels like car has more power already as I've only owned car for 1 month prior.

My N63 CCP Experience

New member, first post. 2011 550ix MSport just turned 79,000 miles, original owner.

I just got my car back after the dealer completed work under the N63 Customer Care Campaign and wanted to share. I’ve only had it bad a few days, but seems to run better.

Inspection process lasted 3 days, waited a month for the parts, then 3 more days to install. Received a stripped down 320 loaner for the inspection and a new 535 for the repairs.

- Oil was changed at no charge, capacity increased by 1 Qt. and service interval set to 10,000 mi or 1 year.
- Timing chain inspected but not replaced.
- No battery replacement.

Parts Replaced:
13-62-8-645-877 Hot-Film Air Mass Sensor
13-71-8-646-450 Gasket - Intake Air Duct
17-51-7-585-577 Clamp
11-15-8-645-237 Connecting Line - Bank 1
11-15-8-645-238 Vent Pipe - Bank 1
11-15-8-645-239 Connecting Line - Bank 2
11-15-8-645-240 Vent Pipe - Bank 2
11-66-8-649-747 Vacuum Pump
13-53-8-649-966 Fuel Feed Line w/ Low Pressure Sensor
12-51-7-575-196 Lambda-Probe Bracket

* All of the spark plugs had been replaced before and all injectors replaced twice, along with a few other parts.

If anyone is interested, I can post the highlights of previous shop time regarding N63 related problems.

-John

Thanks.
as far as i know from my BMW Mechanic friends its easier to take it down together. They don't separate the Trani from the Engine. just disconnect the diff and exhaust, harness, hoses ext. it comes down on a big stand which holds the Trani and engine together. Would be to difficult to seperate the trani bolts in the car.

Something like in the pic

Would you happen to have the new part number for the fuel injectors? Is there a way I or a mechanic can check mine to ensure they have been updated?

  • vacuum pump (a newer version of the one previously replaced under warranty back in 2013)

Regarding my fuel injectors, I was originally concerned they weren't replaced (again) under this Campaign, but thanks to a PM to resident expert E90Fleet, he confirmed that the injectors I had replaced under warranty back in 2013 were the latest versions offered (apparently there's a new part number to denote Campaign-specific injectors).

Loaner provided: 2015 320i

BMW swag? None...

Initial driving impressions: smooth, but despite all these upgrades, the motor still exhibits an occasional ever-so-slight shudder felt while idling (not enough to register on the tach needle). Not a big deal to me, though, as the N63 has done this from day one, and from what I've read and been told, is just a nuance to the motor's design.

Got my Dinan engine and suspension software re-loaded yesterday without issue, and the beast is back!

Do you have the new part number to denote Campaign-specific injectors? I want to check and make sure they have been replaced. Bmw dealer returned my car the next day and said they replaced all components but I'm skeptical.

Index 11 or higher
So they would either say
1353 7585261-11 (or higher)
or 1353 8616079-11 (or higher

Same part number can have different index numbers

No reason the dealer would not change them, since they are paid by BMW if they do so.

I'm just skeptical because the turn around was so quick ( under 24 hours). I was driving the loaner real hard and belligerently and they called me in the next day and said my car was ready. Thanks for the response!

Also, one of the metal clamps on the turbo is gone. I'll put up a pic soon. I got the CCP done about 2 months ago but don't really look under my hood much

If this helps any, my service advisor told me that most of the mechanics are able to complete all the repairs under the CCP much faster these days due to the sheer volume (and repetitive nature) of processing so many part swaps to the N63 motor under this initiative.

I understand where you're coming from but when I first dropped the vehicle off, the SA said it would be about 2 weeks.

I attached the pic with the missing clamp.

Got my carepackage done a couple weeks ago, right before my warranty was up.

I already had all 8 injectors replaced about 4-6 months ago.
This time they replaced:
2 Hot Film Air Mass Meter
2 Gasket
2 Clamp
2 Connecting line
2 Vent Pipe
1 Vacuum pump
1 Fuel Feed Line

Timing Chain checked ok ...

Supposedly also got a software update.

Car feels better, runs better Id say, still shakes a bit from time to time but whatever ...
I have a 3rd party warranty with 0 deductible for worst case.

Hey all - I started this thread when I had my CCP done in January. From a long term perspective- all is still excellent! Car idles rough once in a blue moon (feel it in my shift knob - my car is manual). Power is still as smooth as the day I picked it up. Highway mileage is still 2 mpg better than before. All in all I am pleased! How is it working out for all of you?

Garage List
I just discovered this thread. About a year ago ended the lease on our 2012 550xi a few months early for a M5. We had a lot of battery, injector, and drivetrain issues - fortunately all under warranty. My dealer was pretty good about taking care of me. Good to see in a way that BMW is addressing the issues. Fortunately no problems so far with the M5.

The Road and track article is interesting reading. I suspected that the electronics were part of the problem and it is good to see confirmation of that. They really need to evaluate whether the fuel savings by not charging the batteries fully is worth it now that they have a better idea of the consequences in cost and reputation.

The issues we had in part pushed us into looking at other brands after more than 15 years of having almost exclusively BMWs. We now have two Porsches, each of which replaced a BMW. I really like my M5 but we'll have to see what is out there when my lease ends.
