Climate Control Question

When I have my Climate Control System in the "Auto" funtion, it seems that the Air Conditioning doesn't come on enough and the cabin gets too humid. If I switch on the Cooling Funtion (Snowflake button), the system works more like I would expect.

Have others noticed this? How do you normally leave your Climate Control settings when it is warm to hot out (it is still in the upper 80s here in Houston).

I didn't check it in my car, but could well imagine that the AC system is deliberately designed so that the "Auto" setting is not able to automatically engage/disengage the "snowflake": This way, owners caring about fuel efficiency or who are sensitive to any cold AC may attempt to achieve the desired temperature in Auto mode without the compressor/snowflake engaged (as long as the outside temperatures would allow it).

Personally I'm leaving the "snowflake" always on, especially because the AC then always also acts as dehumidifier.

From the owner's manual, "The cooling function, refer to page 128, is
switched on automatically with the AUTO program.
At the same time, a condensation sensor controls
the program so as to prevent window condensation
as much as possible".
To me, it doesn't really seem to do this....

You need to have the A/C on or you will have condensation. When you press auto, doesn't your A/C light come on?

What A/C Light? There is a light on the "Auto" button that is on, but above the Snowflake, that light doesn't come on.

Make sure the fresh air wheel is all-the-way "blue!"

I stand corrected - with my car, switching "Auto" back on will always activate the compressor (snowflake) if it was switched off previously.

So unless there are some country or model specific differences regarding the logic of the AC, something seems to be wrong with your AC.

Can anyone else in the US check this for me. I'm sure my dealer won't have a clue.

Although I'm from Canada, the specs should be same and my A/C does come back on when I switch back to Auto.
