I think there are some things on the "automobile" that should be left to be, and unchanged... this is one of those things.
So, how can this possibly be useful with glare hitting the dash... if they say its 'glare-free' then thats absolute bull crap. |

The same trend has been happening for some time with aircraft (787 dreamliner, Airbus A380). Digital screens out the wazoo.
Makes sense that it would eventually "trickle down" to earth-going vehicles.

Instead of ctrl + alt + delete, you will step on clutch + brake + throttle

On my E90, there's a "three finger salute" you can do to force the computer to reboot. I had to do this once when the nav system stopped working. You press the nav DVD eject button, the audio CD eject button, and the audio system on/off button all at once.

I do not see any reason to rejoice this non innovation.
I couldn't care less. I am not against development, to name one: I would be glad with the delivery by BMW of a spare tyre in my 5 series. |

Instrument cluster failures are common. Since the demise of the speedometer cable, the mechanical needle display has been a silly, inaccurate, failure-prone mechanism. Much like the vaunted dipstick.
