Question Is it possible to swap N55 into F10 528ix

After driving 528ix for 2 years, I kinda regret that i didn't go for the 535. I was wondering if it's possible to swap in a N55 engine? or even a S55? I guess it needs a different transmission too.

Even if it is possible, it would still be cheaper to buy a used 535.

Yea def would just sell your 528i and buy a used 535i, I would assume the cost of the swap would be astronomical. This isnt like swaping your old Honda Civic engine out for an Integra GSR engine.

Thanks guys. My parents swapped an engine for Audi A6 before, it was only about $2000. How much are we talking about here? I tried to find a fully loaded 535ix before, I couldn't find one. I do enjoy all the functions BMW developed, so I kinda want to keep these functionalists but having a more powerful engine.

If you can't find one you haven't been looking in the right place. Swapping engines is not likely to be possible without additional costs: fuel pump, suspension, wiring and who knows what else to make everything work as BMW intended it.

Not to harp on the same answer, but as everyone else already said... buy a 535 and call it a day. No sense in putting yourself through the expense and pain of an engine swap. I'm sure it's possible - with enough time and money nearly anything is possible. But it's nowhere near as economical as just selling your car and buying a 535. In my mind, engine swaps are reserved for classic cars, exotics, and situations where the car, itself, is truly a rarity that you're trying to preserve, and investing in a complete engine replacement is actually an investment in the car's preservation and future. That's just not the case for a mass-produced 5-series.

Apart from the initial investment it would take to make that happen, think about what it would do to resale value.
