Should I purchase a 535i F10
Hi, I've previously had a 550i E60 that developed issues with smoking, valve stem seals after 120K miles.
I recently picked up a 2008 E90 with 66K miles (no I-drive) and now I've come across a 2015 535i with under 30K miles. Has had regular service/oil changes at the dealer. I've heard of issues with turbos in older models. What should I check for or be aware of before purchasing? Also, at this mileage, would I need to do any major preventive maintenance or replace any items that are known to fail? |

A 2015 535i should, all other factors being equal, give you pretty reliable service. Obviously a pre-purchase inspection is always a must, but I don't think you need to be especially concerned about that combination of year model, mileage, and engine configuration.

Looks nice and mostly clean. All four wheels are curbed, has a couple of dings and one ugly gash on the trunk lid. Needs new tires all around as well.
Based on price research, this is over-priced somewhat and then the expenses per the above. Seller is not open to adjusting much so I've moved on. VIN: WBA5B1C5XFD918964 Has Head-up display, comfort seats, comfort access, Nav, PDC, run flats. Posted here in case someone else is interested. https://nextdoor.com/for_sale_and_fr...ce=other_share |

You will miss driving experience of the e60 550 assuming it was with the sport package. F10 is way more dependable though. N55 is solid. You should be ok especially with a late f10.

If I did another F10 I would go straight to a M5. They are affordable now.
If your not looking for a ton of power and want to remain stock, and don't want a 4 banger. Get the N55 variant of the F10. If you want stock but more power and don't want the repairs cost of an M5 get the 550. Be aware the turbo set up on the 550 and the oil consumption issues derived from that configuration. If you think you are going to mod and don't buy the M5 get the 550. Modding the N55 and want real results you'll need a PS2, upgraded hpfp and an aggressive tune.
