DIY request / question : Interior ambient lighting
Backstory : My F10 is in for service ( of course it is ) and they gave me a G30 (2018 530i) that has very bright and nice modern looking blue LED ambient lighting. It goes around the doors and trim. See picture for reference.
My question is, has anyone attempted to change and or add LED bulbs to our interior ? I did some searching and only found people who replaced their spot / dome lights. I would like too change all the red LEDs in the doors to blue and maybe add some to the trim going across the dashboard. Any help / input would be appreciated. |

is it as simple as replacing all the LEDs currently in the door with Blue brighter ones ? does it require coding as well ? and as for adding them to the dashboard. I was thinking of just buying replacement LED strips for the doors and modifying the trim on the dash to make them fit. As for wiring, can i just tap in to the door wires powering the LEDs for the new dashboard ones ? or should i tap into something else, such as the radio. |

Not sure how bright (doesn't look that great in photos) but i just ordered a 3 color ambient light kit supposed to be plug and play. Im installing a tune and decatting my f10 next week so I will get everything installed at once. Kit was about $300? Usd shipped
I have a friend who also does interior lighting so I will see what kind of price it is and DIY too

I was just doing some R&D the other day on this. It doesn't look horribly complicated. That tubing is pretty easy to fit behind the current dashboard trim
