iDrive Touch Controller - Coding Required?
Hi all,
I have a 2013 F10 with the NBT-HU and large screen. I have this weekend installed an MMI box to give me Apple CarPlay and other functionality. I am finding the navigation a little tedious as CarPlay is designed for touchscreen as opposed to manual control-input. I have the 'small' iDrive controller sans touch and have three questions.. Does the installation of a touch controller require coding? If yes, what is the easiest (and most cost effective) way of achieving this? Does the touch controller allow for navigation of CarPlay via swipe gestures? Kind thanks in advance |

You basically will need the touch controller AND these two :the Touch ECU and the wiring that splits to allow for both the controller and touch ECU.
This is besides the touch controller that you'll need to get. And YES, coding will be needed to get the touch functionality to work. However, bear in mind this touch is NOT the same as touch that CarPlay works with. CarPlay with touch works with the Touch Screen display (newer BMWs 2016 and beyond G series mostly) Quote:
