Moving to 20" wheels

Hi everyone. I have a 2012 535xi with m sport package. It has the 19" wheels with RFT's. I swapped the tires out immediately to Michelin non RFT's. Question is I am thinking of going to a 20" wheel and tire package. Will I notice a slower pickup on the car? When I had my E63 I went from an 18" wheel/tire to a 20" wheel/tire Iforged wheel. I could notice that it seemed more "sluggish" on pickup. Any thoughts?

Can't see how it would make any difference as the overall wheel/tyre diameter remains the same, regardless of what size rims you have.

It all comes down to un-sprung weight. If you can keep your 20" setup's weight close to what your stock 19's weigh (tire and rim) then you shouldn't notice much of a difference.

+1, keep the weight close, and you shouldn't notice a difference. I believe the general rule of thumb is that every difference in unsprung weight is equal to a 10 fold difference in actual weight. For example, 5lbs difference in weight of a wheel/tire combo, times 4 =20 lbs. Equivalent to an overall weight difference of 200 lbs of the vehicle.

BMW Wheels: http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ (select "5er F10" under "Baureihe")

Tires: Manufacturer website? Tirerack?

Here's a forum member in your same situation going from 19" M sports to 20" wheels.

He stated that it was a 20 lbs reduction per corner!

I had a set of 21" iforged and compared to my 21" Morr wheels the weight comparison was drastic.

Per corner??? I haven't actually weighed my wheels, but I take them off for regular cleaning and I don't think a complete wheel/tyre weighs all that much more than 20 lbs. I reckon 5 lbs a corner (20 overall) sounds a bit more credible.

I'm just quoting what the OP said.

Here's what my 20" MORR VS8.2 weighed with Toyo Proxes T1 Sport.

I wasn't doubting your word, more that of the originator. I must say that I'm amazed at the weight of your wheels and I'll check mine when they're next off the car - maybe I'm stronger than I think

Sure weighs more than 20lbs, if I were to guess, I'd say about 60 lbs for the 19" 351M wheel.
But I do think a saving of 20lbs per corner sounds like a lot. I'd expect 10-15 lbs.
