Any change of hearts as to which F10 version you should have ordered?
For those who have owned the F10 for a period of time, do you wish that you should have ordered the F10 550i instead of the 535i or vice versa?

I drove to San Francisco last weekend. 400 miles each way. On the way there I had the cruise control on 80 and I was getting 31 mpg. I stopped to fill up and the range read 561 miles. This is a herculean feat for a 4100 lbs car that can do the 150 mph if you wish. I can't think of any other car this fast, this big, with this type of fuel mileage. (535i Sport.)

I'm picking up my car this Saturday but at the moment I touched my friend's Dakota leather I regret not going for the Nappa, it feels just like a basketball.
I searched on internet trying to find advantages about Dakota to comfort myself but the more I find the more I regret. I guess you can pretend that Dakota might be more durable since the surface feels too rough to wear out quick |

I considered the Nappa, but I figure since I almost always wear clothes when I drive, what does it really matter how soft the leather is? To answer the OP, no, I don't regret the 535 over the 550. It's adequate, and I saved a bunch of money not just upfront but in insurance, taxes and especially gas. I didn't consider the 528 because it comes only with an automatic in the USA, and I have to have a stick. I debated on getting the convenience package, and sometimes when it takes 4 tries to get the trunk closed or 3 tries to slam the doors, I wish I had gotten it.

Does the N55 make you 535 owners paranoid?Damn after all the fiasco I am honestly considering a 550 though the 535i felt adequately powerful for me.I did hear about HPFP failures on N55 too.

I am glad that so far ALL of the responses have been positive in that they made the right decision.
I thought that some owners of the 535i would feel that the car is underpower or worry about the pump issue that they regret not getting the 550i. I also thought that some owners of the 550i would think that the car is consuming too much gas and the extra power is not that special....etc....

But I've been driving a 2008 535ix for a couple of years, and it has more than enough power for my needs. Most of my driving is in town. And here there's simply no way I can drive the 550 in what I imagine is the car's sweet spot range. Honestly, I can't even imagine how powerful 400hp on tap must feel. I guess that for some, it's simply about knowing you have it if you ever want it. But is it worth additional 8 or 9k? Not for me. I think that the F10 is marginally slower compared to my current 535. But it's also more frugal, which makes me feel a bit better about the environmental aspects of owning this car. So the voice of reason prevailed. |

Coming from the M3 E90, the 550i M sport is the only way to go, I love that power, and in Cruise mode in 8th gear she will be economical on motorway runs.

I am waiting for my F10 550i to arrive. Currently I am driving the MB GL450 and the old 1997 Lexus ES 300.
So there would probably be quite a change from driving a tank and an old V6 Lexus engine to the new F10 400 HP car. I wonder if the feeling of the driving difference would be like surfing the internet with 56K vs. DSL ? :-)

Going from the E60 535 to F10 550 was not as dramatic performance difference as I was expecting. I think for everyday driving the E60 felt quicker and more responsive compared to the f10 550in sport mode. At this point I would rather have the f10 535 and get better mileage. Hopefully the 535d will be coming soon, I love that engine in my x5.
