Official Euro 2012 thread

Starts tomorrow

I'll be rooting for Poland because I'm Polish, but they won't last very long. So go Deutschland.

I see Spain, Germany, or Holland as potential winners. All the rest will be to provide entertainment over three weeks. Oh sure, someone could park the team bus at the penalty area and defend with 11 for an upset, but those three teams just have something extra. Injuries and suspensions may make the difference (testing the depth of the teams as they get deeper into the tournament).

Its interesting to see that so many polish fans are crossing their fingers for Germany, if the Polish-Team does not make it to the next round... is it because of Podolski, Klose etc. ?

No, it was a good second half by Greece. The coach knew what he was doing. When that Greek player got the second yellow card (forgot the name), most coaches would substitute a striker in the field with a defender in order to keep the team structure alive. But he didn't, instead he sent another striker in who scored a goal and got a penalty, and also a red carded goalkeeper for Poland.

Agreed. Portugal team has sucked since 2004. In recent events teammates seem like they aren't coordinated at all.

Well, I wouldn't go so far back. In 2006 we were semi-finalists and lost against France in a very suspicious way (again). Then we lost against Germany for in the match for 3rd place.
But after that, the team has lost some great players who retired from international play (e.g., Luís Figo) and we're struggling to have a good, balanced first team.
Cristiano Ronaldo is not alone with Nani, Pepe, Coentrão, Quaresma who are also very good/great players, but there is definitively a lack of class in the right-back, central midfielder and striker positions.

I wouldn't rule out france...they are the most in-form team going into the tournament (21 games unbeaten)
