Questions: Alarm, Radar Detector, Dealer Fees (MACO/Training/PDI), Tint

Hey folks,

I finally ordered my 2013 535i, and I had a few questions:

1) Alarm: Does the 2013 F10 come with a standard alarm? If no (or even if yes), do I need to buy an alarm for the car? I'm used to a Viper alarm on my old ride.

2) Radar Detector: Should I have my dealer install a (mounted) radar detector? They sell Escort and other brands there, but I am not sure if I need the dealer to do it, or if I should just pick up a windshield mounted one.

3) Fees: To save money, and after much negotiation, my dealer is waiving (or covering the cost of) the $180 Training Fee (but not the $325 MACO fee). They are also not going to charge me any dealer prep fees (since I refused to pay them) - so they will be doing a "basic PDI" instead. Apparently, this means that they will not install wheel locks and not fill nitrogen in the tires (but it saves me $600). Thoughts?

4) Tint: My dealer will be tinting the car (they are doing it for free - after much negotiation). Any thoughts on what I should tell them as far as preferences? They will be tinting all four side windows and the rear window with the darkest legal tint. Any comments on percentages of tint for the front, versus the back?

Your thoughts are appreciated!

1. In the US, the F10 comes with the OEM alarm system.
2. No comment.
3. You are concerned that you're not getting your tires filled with nitrogen? Um, air is already 80% nitrogen.
4. I have 35% tint on all sides and back on my car. I really like it. But tint darkness is personal preference just like color combinations.

did you not like ibimmer346 reply?

1. yes.

2. is personal preference. i'm sure they have quite a markup if they install it. i mounted my own and was able to do a seamless install. you can hardly tell it's there. if you're comfortable or enjoy doing things yourself then it takes less then 10 minutes.

3. again, personal preference. i wouldn't want them to prep anything on my car. i asked them to not even to wash it.

4. i also have 35% all around on mine. if i could go darker i would but it's the legal limit where i am. i still think it looks really good.
