Hi guys, I have a Nikon D3100 and don't use it much. But now I need you help since I am new to the scene... your help is much appreciated. How do I get rid of the orange glow of the city in the background? maybe I used the wrong white balance?

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

white balance is the biggest factor there, but you definitely will have a haze no matter what happens, so that's where someone elses knowledge will come in

I think a circular polarizer stacked with a grad ND filter would have helped there. It would have made for a much longer exposure, though. As it is, I sort of like the orange glow in the picture.

This is working with a jpeg that's been up and down loaded. I'm sure you could get better results with the RAW file. Still, the best way to deal with this problem is to filter the light before it hits the sensor. Those bright lights in the background are going to make this a tough shot no matter what.

Mark,
You're good at PS, kill those lights in the background. I think then it would be an excellent shot.

Hmm, hadn't thought about that. I was just thinking I wish I'd used a smaller aperture. I could kill the lights, though.

There are several old sheds like this along my backroad commute. One is quite large and open on both ends. I'd love to get some shots looking through it to the horizon, but I'm always hesitant to go up to the house and ask permission to nose around their buildings.

If you do ever get up the nerve, just have your camera hanging around your neck when you do it.

I should get some simple business cards made up with my future gallery site name on them. Looks better than handing them my university business card.

Took this whiel on a business trip to Scottsdale last month. I had to rush the shot a little since it was cold a hell there for some reason and they did not want me taking a lot of pictures for some reason. I took it with a canon 15-85mm lens that I took back after the trip. It was not worth the money. It is a fine lens but for 500 bucks not 800.

Then did a moon shot with my new 70-200 F4 IS. this was taken hand held
