UK F10 2013 Halogen Halo's Are Rubbish!
So I bought an F10 520D 2013 recently and I’m delighted with it overall.
One thing that really bothers me though is that seemingly every other F10 owner I drive past dazzles me with their DRL halo/corona rings. Mine are pathetic. I looked at the coding and the brightness is already set to 100% which surprised me, they still just look rubbish. As I understand it, although I have the halogen package, the rings are LED’s? Although they are dim, they are white, so definitely not halogen. Are there any solutions to this to at least get them a bit brighter/fuller? Change the bulbs to brighter LED’s? The only other option I found was changing the complete headlights to xenons, which I’ve been quoted 2500GBP for it. Any ideas?? |

The DRL in the Halogen and Xenon are both LED but completely different units. The Halogens are much dimmer and there is no way they can match the Xenon ones unless you change to Xenons or get aftermarket lights.

I know it might sound crazy, I might probably have to use them again as they seem to be the only one offering this kind of service in UK, I would like to convert my own halogen head light and the angel LED light to xenon and the brighter type LED (respectively) on my 2011 F10, just like you. |

Sounds like we need to pool our research together and find out more options. I emailed mstyle as the price seems a bit too good as from what I've read our led's are embedded within the halos and as such makes it impossible to upgrade without replacing the lights completely. That said, I read conflicting information to this somewhere else. It's all very confusing.
Drop me a PM if you're interested in getting this done as it would be good to have someone else who's in a relatively similar area to me too (I'm an hour from Newcastle). |
