SK,
Wah Kee is here

But they typically don't have many wheels in stock/on display. I just look at wheels elsewhere, cross-shop, and see if Wah Kee can match

I think Tsing Fung Street has more on display......

I live in Sai Kung. I guess Mong Kok is a better place for me to have a look around? Would you still recommend Wah Kee for someone living over this side? What about the springs?

I know very little about the shops at MK so can't really compare. One thing I do find is one size doesn't fit all. But WK works for me here

Too many shady operators in Hong Kong. Will stick with recommended companies for purchase/ install, but will look around for styles etc. As ever, thanks for your inputs. ;-)

Hey mlai,

It's just dawned on me that you have the 20" rims, but haven't touched the suspension/ springs? Is that correct?

Are you waiting/ undecided/ or just happy with the stock suspension?

Yes, that's right. I have a related post on that.

In short, on the F10s, even with the 20" rims (non-rft tyres), standard suspension can feel a tad soft with somewhat of a boat-ride feel. In terms of comfort 20" with non-rft will be similar to 18" with rft tyres. This is on a non-DHP F10.

On a DHP F10, my experience is that the suspension is good enough for me. Comfy driving around casually in normal/comfort in city. And the car is tight enough (and much less body roll) at cornering in sport/sport+ mode.

So, IMO, I will tinker with the suspension on non-DHP F10s but with DHP equipped F10s, the suspension (both shocks and springs) are fine by me, with 20" wheels.....

Some may consider lowering via spring a tad, and that's really a personal preference. For me and where I drive, I would hate to slow down to a crawl at every ramp and speed bump after lowering.......

Thanks mlai. I had read that thread, but only putting it all together in my head now, as I understand tha car more. By "DHP" do you mean you have both the "Adaptive Drive" and "Dynamic Damping Control" options?

On F10, I think you can only have dyn damp control as part of adaptive drive, and only for 535/550.

I think you have the electronic stabilizers too with DHP, that's why you car handles better on cornering.

option ZDH - Dynamic Handling Package includes active roll-bars (stabilizers) and active dampers.

Very confusing with all the terms, I forgot too. Just to refresh:

From the brochure (page 36).

Dynamic Damping Control- These are the adjustable shocks.

Dynamic Driving Control-The system fine-tunes such features as accelerator response or power steering, enabling you to individualize the dynamic feel of your BMW.

Adaptive Drive-Combines two active components, Dynamic Drive (different from Dynamic Driving control above), which are the active stabilizers AND Dynamic Damping Control to control not just acceleration and power-steering but active roll and adjustable shocks.

I think the confusion is that people are mixing Dynamic Drive (active roll stabilization) with Dynamic Drive Control (button to setup steering and transmission). You only get the latter with 8sp sport tranny.

And Adaptive Drive is known as DHP in NA

H&R around HK$3500 to 4500 installed. Depends on where you go. If you have a friendly auto shop, get the springs from one of the dealers and let the shop install. Could be cheaper.

The moded version and unmoded version are both in the photo video section. Not in Asia section. Just search rc3 posts. Cant link here as I'm using iPhone. About to take off. Cheers

Put it Apple to Apple. Cast OE still way to heavier than some Cast Aftermarket.
Does OE use inferior technique or alloy that is heavier? Nope. This is BMW. Even my 535!, take for example, equipped with Pireli P7 ROF. Which's price is almost equal to benchmark PS2.
OE uses higher bearable pounds, thus transfer thicker alloy, more sturdy, I think it,s because OE uses higher safe factor. That's what I said safety reason.
I will do some study in comparison between Forged OE and Forged Aftermarket as well.

Some OE replicas offer lighter weight yet still keep the OE style that some may preference! Either way, Cheers for those all of you mod wheel with your liking!

A bit late to the conversation but have been out of hk for the last few weeks. Just somoe color on the topic....

Changed to 19" rims and the ride doesn't feel much different vs the 17" w RFTs. Would say the acceleration is similar, and feels that there's more grip out of corners. Haven't changed the spings, so theres a gap, but only a little more than 2 fingers in the space.

Ride in comfort mode still feels a bit soft and cornering is still a bid boat-like. .I have sport mode configured w chassis only and that makes it a bit better. On the fence with the springs as the car is mostly used for family outings only.

Overall quite happy w the setup. Have been thinking about 20" wheels again as I've seen a few around. Concerned that 20s with out a drop may look strange and that ride quality maybe compromised further. Also now that I have 19" on already, need to find someone to take those first anyways. What do you guys think?

Can't find forged OE, but just share some info about the weight of OE & aftermarket.
Here you got OE's:
18" 237 is about 27 Lbs
http://113.128.178.221:3387/test/pli...6&page=36_1523

19" 351M is about 33.4 Lbs
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=508561

From one of the eminent aftermarket-Forged 1 which I ordered a set of 19",
the weight is amazing light as below photo suggested:
19" x 11 was scaled 22.5 Lbs
