M5 style kit going on... M5 style fenders too much?

Found an M5 kit that fits pretty well at a good price. I did however find some m5 style fenders that are the same size as the stock fenders but with the vents.

Is that going a little overboard? I am scoring the m5 replica bumper with the fogs so it just doesn't blatantly scream m5.. kind of like the e90 rep m3 bumpers with the fogs...

If I do there will be no //M badging of any kind on the car. I would black out the emblem on the vent to reflect this.

Opinions?

It all depends... I have the M5 front bumper, but std fenders. I feel that this is a "acceptable" compromise between M5 look but not trying to fool people. M5 badges is a big no no in my opinion.

This is going overboard IMO:

Only thing that gives the game away is the photo of the front brakes...

Yea.. I decided to just get the kit minus the fenders. I think it will be nice looking plus I have the worry about the fender not matching the rest of the car paint wise...

If you like the style of the body kit, I'd say get it. It's your car, your call. With that said, keep in mind there's no "right" answer to this question since some people will always find it perfectly acceptable, and some people will always find it to be posing. I happen to be more of a purist - I wouldn't do it to my own car. In my mind, the car is the car... and I'm more about keeping it stock the way the designers intended. But I'm also not the type to judge someone else if they liked a different body kit and swapped it out.

For those enthusiasts out there, especially M-car owners, you'll probably get a disapproving look. Their conclusion will likely be that you're posing, even if you leave the fenders off, M5 badges, etc. People tend to get touchy about these things - especially when they feel they have the moral high ground. Very few will likely think, "imitation is the highest form of flattery." For the rest of the folks out there? They won't know any better - it'll just look like a nice 5-series to them, and it won't get a second look.

So, if you're unconcerned with a few glares from a small enthusiast community, I don't think the majority will care. Aside from the social aspect of the question, there's the practical aspect of it - which is, like most mods, that you'll likely hurt the car's value. Especially where the mod appears to be performance-oriented, the majority (not all) of buyers will assume the car has been driven harder and therefore is less valuable than alternatives with similar options and mileage. Of course, you could get lucky and sell to someone who values your mods - but it's much less likely.

This is the 5th bmw I have owned and I can say that of the 5 only 2 of them ever had an M style bumpers on them. The rest were M tech and quite honestly I don't really feel the look of the f10 mtech front bumper nor the diffuser. My last car, the e90 335i (if you search my name in the e90 forums), had not one M bit on it. Not even the wheels. That's because I felt the mtech lci conversion I did fit the bill when it came to looks.

The f10 5 series? Not too much hence the m5 style kit minus the fenders.

I like the M5 front bumper. If I could do it I would but just don't like any of the lip kits for it. It's all preference...if you like it get it. As far as the front fenders never really cared for the side grills.

I agree, I like the front bumper, to me it fit way better the kind flat wide front of the F10! If not wrong you can get the M5 front bumper with fog light fitted.
