Dirty Engine
Hello all BMW enthusiasts. I have had f10 535xdrive for just over a year now and I ?. However, it really bothers me that engine compartment gets so dirty, dusty so easily. I literally have to clean it every 2 weeks to keep it clean. Well, I don't really have to but I want to since I can't look at it so dirty, lol... hood seal isn't torn or weak but somehow dirt gets in there.
Do you have this problem or is it just me being little picky with my baby? |

Air must flow. Sure it is not air tight. From the bottom is the largest opening and of course the dirtiest one. Look around to see how much cleaner it is compared to other makes.

Usually when i wash my car i routinely wipe the engine bay area down because of the water. But its pretty clean other than the light dusting which i think is normal

Nice! I actually thought about buying the carbon fiber engine cover along with those corner inserts?

The next time you're cleaning the engine bay, hit that hood insulation pad with a couple of quick passes of a power washer. Be sure to pat it dry soon after. They hold pollen/dust like a sponge.

For me...unless I've modded out my engine bay and engine components to make it worth showing to someone...I general keep it decently cleaned. I don't fuss over how quickly it gets dirty.
Like a lot of previous posts on this...air has to move in and out. But more importantly...a big factor is the environment you normally drive through. So if you live and work in an area that is prone to be dusty/dirty, then logically, the air that moves through your engine bay would be the same. |
