Harman Kardon question

How many speakers does the BMW F10 HK system come with? Does anyone have more info on types of speakers (subs, mid etc)?

Has the system been the same since 2011 or are there any improvements in the newer models?

The HK system was fitted from mid 2013 (LCI).

All the info here:

Bear in mind that the speakers are dual cone, the tweeter sits on top of the mid apart from the front door tweeters, so really just 11 speaker units

No dual cone speakers in the HK system, the tweeters, mids and woofers are all separate drivers.

OP - if it helps, I didn't find much if any difference in quality between the pre- and post-LCI 16 speaker options in the F10, but I did 2 things that really improved the sound for me:
- simply disconnect the tweeter and mid in the dash;
- replace the front left and right tweeters and mids with the Bavsound units (are they overpriced ? Yes, probably, but very convenient to fit and a perfect match for the HK amp, factory equalisation settings and the other speakers).

I went on to replace all the other tweeters and mids with Bavsound units, as there was a "deal" on the whole set, and it made a further improvement, but TBH 90% of what you're hearing as a driver or front passenger is what's coming out of the front speakers.
