Overuse of manual gears
Hi, wondering if anyone is familiar with the manual function of the 8 speed auto. Every day I drive down three ramps in a garage and then drive to work where I drive down four ramps in that garage. Is it less wear on the transmission to move it to M1 or to let it automatically start to shift into 2nd only to shift back to 1st when I brake. Trying to do what's best for the longevity of this gearbox. Thanks

If it is in Comfort mode the transmission should start in second gear anyway, so it is probably going from second to third or fourth in the garage scenario. You are likely putting slightly more wear on the transmission by manually shifting and using first gear. The manual shifts are quicker, jerkier. But unless you are racing through garages, sending max power through the transmission, and overheating the transmission fluid, none of this should affect longevity.

If I were in that position is probably use manual. It's more predicable to drive and every shift uses up a little clutch material.
