My first F10.

Hi all. I just picked up my 520d SE 2010. Second hand obviously.
Reading this forum I can understand I will have a lot of questions. Sorry if they have been asked previously.

My first question and I think the most important for me is:
I don't have sat Nav in my car. I do have NAV button in Idrive, but it does nothing. Now my question, is it possible for me to install sat nav on the same system, or I need to buy any additional parts.

Many thanx for your reply's.

You need to but navigation system and fit it.
Cost is approx. £1000 if you have bluetooth/ phone otherwise more than that to retrofit phone.
I looked into it and ended up buying a car with cic + combox.

Thanx makkan.

Does anyone know where is the best place to buy them? I have seen a few different sites.

Also will it affect my warranty if I change that.

No problem.

I don't know anything about them so I can't vouch for how good they are, I just found them by googling.

BMW will ask you to put your own radio if car needs any coding after warranty work.
I offer very similar service. However F10s are relatively new cars and hence I do not advertise it.

Some people have the original head unit fitted in the boot (behind the panels) to counter this don't they? It just needs power and connected to the MOST loop apparently.

That will not work on F1x. As if you put the basic unit and nbt and code both units, car will get confused on most loop configuration which one to link with the car.

If it is aftermarket, I would not worry. However I will keep my old unit back, just in case.
Problem is that navigation get activated via most loop on F1X and hence standard emulator will not work. You need special emulator which intercepts the signals b/w gateway and CIC and activates navigation.
