Hello I tried to upgrade my F11 LCI Oct 2013 build Media software to the UPD05021 version - the latest on BMW's upgrade website suggested from my VIN.

I formatted a USB flash to FAT32 and copied the .bin file downloaded from BMW directly to this drive so it was the only file on the system (in the root directory)

I went to the car and tried to upgrade - it started, went all the way to 100% then said something like "corrupt file" (or something like that) and went back to the version before. This scared me a bit with me thinking something might go wrong, its a dangerous business this soemtimes....!!!! Now being an IT person files rarely get corrupted when allowed to download properly so I do not believe that.

Anyone else have this issue? Its currently on TN2.17.007. Just checking here before I have another go. Am I doing something silly?

I did an update to my Dec 2013 model last week. Went well without issue. Made no difference though, still have exactly the same functionality. Can't recall the update number though.

Ok thanks. In that case I may just leave it alone on the current version. My iPhone 6 now works OK on my current version with a few little oddities that I can live with.

With these updates I,ve taken the view leave it as it is unless I have an issue or the updates provides some new functionality.

Indeed, I was hoping the latest release would have such new features but CraigUK posted that it doesn't. On that basis I will leave alone and keep an eye on the update page every couple of months.

As mentioned earlier that 'it does not make difference' to you.
However it does make a difference as it increases the phone compatibility.
Problem is that bmw rarely update the firmware for combox. Last one was released in 2012.
I have been told by bmw engineers that it includes new phones. I have not noticed anything though and updated mine (and many others) without any hiccups.
