Talking Garage flooring?'s

Hey fellow members! So I haven't been doing much to my car even tho I have all these parts sitting in my storage waiting to be installed ie Mtech rear bumper, Mtech side skirts, Meisterschaft Exhaust, DTM Carbon Diffuser, Carbon rear extensions, Carbon tips etc...any who, finally was able to close a deal on a house the Wifey and I purchased and one of my projects I wanna do "of course" is the garage! Besides my MANCAVE I've always wanted a garage that would case the BMW! It is a 3.5 car garage so particularly the garage flooring is what I'm focusing on. I've been checking out these garage tiles that look like they just snap in like Legos but wanted to know if anyone has these and if they're good or just junk? My other option would be to epoxy the floor. Please chime in with your experience or if you've seen them first hand and if looks like it's pretty durable.

Beautiful house! Congratulations!

A buddy of my has the tile flooring in his garage and bec he didn't cut pieces in the ends to make sure it's a perfect fit it tends to shift when his maneuvering his car in the garage.
Something to keep in mind if you decide to take the tile route. Cut the pieces to make sure it fits like a glove in your garage so it doesn't move.

been watching some YouTube videos the last hour and seems like there's a quite a few manufacturer's out there from RaceDeck, Swisstrax and even Sam's Club carries them. installation looks pretty easy as long as it's installed correctly. cutting them to fit like a glove seems like a sure way from the tiles moving. cleanup looks pretty easy with a shop vac but i'll do more searching

Nice house! I wish I had the extra half garage? I'm presuming that door sticking out is a tandem? I am in the market for the same thing when I redo the lighting in our 3-car this spring.

thanks guys! appreciate it! currently the previous owner had epoxy for flooring and it's just worn down back to concrete so i'm figuring out what i should do. so far Racedeck and Swisstrax are the way to go. i'll see how my budget plays out

Garage List
2015 BMW X5  [10.00]
2013 BMW M5 [SOLD]  [10.00]
2013 BMW 535i [SOLD]  [10.00]
Congratz on the house!

When I moved into my old house, we actually sprayed some paint and then sprinkled same flakes on them. I totally dont remember what it was called but it was like a protective coating for garages.

BEAUTIFUL house!!! CONGRATS!!

I would epoxy the floor. A friend did theirs and they couldn't be happier. It's chemical resistant and cleans easily. With tiles fluid will seep under them and you will have to pull them up for cleaning. Just my $.02...

I had race deck in our main (parking) 2 car garage at our last place, they are in storage right now.
I like them a lot. I took awhile and found used tiles on CL, sales at Sears and finally an overstock place by me had a bunch that I negotiated on. I think I calculated $1.2 5ish per sqft when all was done. And I get to take it with me when I move, epoxy dosnt transplant well .

Tiles also give you chance to be artistic.
I will post pics when not on my cell.

Congrats on house!!

Epoxy looks nice but seems like a lot of guys who had epoxy switched to garage tiles and loved it.

How was the Race Deck durability? Was it slippery when it gets wet? Is it more rubber or plastic?

That stuff you're talking about kinda sounds like the stuff we use in our pump rooms. Its okay but not as durable as when we push heavy carts and equipment it really gashes the epoxy or whatever it is

It is plastic, but it has diamond plating on it. The COIN ones get slippery, the diamond ones seem fine. We had it in San Diego, so not really a wet climate.
You can call Race Deck and ask for a few samples, I did that and got a few colors and the coin. drain, diamond options (I think it was 4 or 5 squares). Gave me a good idea of what to expect, I wetted them and rubbed oil and wiped it up, etc.

They do expand in the heat, so depending on how the sun hits the garage, and how often door is open, there can be some buckling. I believe they recommend installing it hot, so anything on top holds everything in place.
I didn't do it all at once, had a 2 tile gap around the edge for awhile, never shifted when driving/parking in garage.

Head over to garage journal, there is a flooring sub forum, lots of info on what people have done, and of course more questions will probably come out of it. lol

Pink tiles were markers for wheels and side stand of wifes bike

No issues with indentation or anything while doing stuff like this.

That looks really good! So your black tile is the coin and the gray is the diamond? I can't wait to decide on mine!

Interesting choice - i've been looking at F-Type's myself. I would bet you could get into an S Coupe for under $60K come spring.

Sorry, no it is all Diamond. It is actually light and dark grey.
In the sample pack I got I chose a white coin, light grey and dark grey diamond, and grey drain, see image below of a few of them together.

The other pic is to show the light vs dark. Doesn't show dust and dirt as much as black seems too. I have a black time somewhere in the mix as well. I picked up the sample pack, and a few individuals when Sears sold them individually, and decided my choices off those.

Yeah I know, I've always hated Jags but the new designs are a lot better. The F Type Coupe with a panoramic roof is jaw droppingly beautiful imo. Heard one go past me the other day and it must have had the sports exhaust as it sounded amazing!

Can get a well specified lightly used model for £45-£50k here in the U.K.... Just got to wait for some of the points to come off my license next year to make the insurance bearable
