Brake light warning?

Today while driving a guy pulls up next to me and says "hey your driver brake light is out". When I get to my buddy's house we check and everything seems to be working fine.

It got me thinking... would there be a brake light warning on the I-Drive screen if it were out?

Agreed. There are certain configurations of the turn signal while parking that can leave your right or left headlamp on along with a corresponding brake lamp.

Maybe you accidentally enabled this feature.

I think I know what you mean BMWrules. But this was just normal driving at a stop light.

I hope this guy was wrong. I can't see LED brake lights going out.

Is it possible you jammed on the brakes prior to stopping? This would have illuminated the extra brake lights. Maybe after stopping only the normal lights illuminated and he could no longer see the extra lights and it appeared like it was on one side.

I think the brake light starts blinking when you brake so hard that the ABS kicks in.

true..also, if your primary brake light is fused then a secondary brake light takes over..you cant tell by looking at the brake lights as the car stops using primary light on both sides so you dont notice any visible change but you do get a warning on your dashboard

I experienced this with my old E60

Well I had them check it out when I had my car in for service today. The SA told me that if a light were out I'd def trigger a message on the I-Drive.
