Looking to buy another F10 (N52 again or N55?)
I owned a 2011 528i N52 and I had zero issues with the car for the 3 years I had it. I sold it and moved up to a Panamera Turbo but I'm looking to buy another F10 but unsure if I should go with a 2012 535i N55 or go back to the N52 which is a proven reliable car. I found a nice N52 but it's not my first choice in color. I'm making this my daily so I can stop putting miles on my Panamera Turbo. I assume the N52 is probably the way to go but the N55 I want is purely based on the color Deep Sea Blue Metallic. It's impossible to find a N52 in Deep Sea Blue. I might’ve answered my own question regarding going with n52 or n55 but I think I’m just looking for opinions on the n55.
If any of you are curious about my last F10 here's a link to a post https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1186082 Last edited by CLKFAN; 03-08-2019 at 12:54 AM.. |

535 is a reliable car. I would look into that if you can find one for a pretty good deal

Go N55 I have had 2 535i's a 13 and a 16. Plenty of power, tons of available mods. The only issue I ever had was the leak on the valve cover gasket but that was fixed under warranty. Also they switched to the N20 motor in 2012 on the 528i

Personally I really love the N55 motor. Very strong, lots of available mods, seems reliable.

I had the same dilemma when I was looking for F10.
I ended up with N52 2011 528i. Bought mine used with 120K km. 6-cyl no-turbo inline is plenty for me personally. Easier to maintain and hopefully less issues down the road as I plan to keep the car for a long time Last edited by OrcaPod; 03-11-2019 at 12:40 PM.. |
