BMWNA made a disappointing choice by not bringing this car here. Can they really determine how the f11 will sell based on how the e61 did? The F11 is gorgeous compared with the outgoing e61.

I will fight for BMW till the end of time, but I firmly believe that the 5 Series GT was a huge mistake. So what if you only sell 900 or so 5 series wagons in one year? Makes more sense than spending all the money on developing the 5GT and then selling LESS than 900 of those.
The 2003 540i M Sport Wagon is probably my favorite BMW ever, so this hits especially close to home. The F11 wagons are sporty and stunning. Screw the 5GT. Sorry BMW... major fail. |

I'm sorry but you people are dreaming -- it didn't even sell 900 -- it sold 450 models.
To give you an idea, more super-exotics were sold in the US last year than 5 Series wagons. And most of them were sold where I live the SF Bay area. American's hate wagons and they don't look to BMW to provide them. BMW is a different brand in the US than it is in Europe. Here it is a sporting brand - there it is just a car. So just because the tinniest fraction of you want a low margin vehicle they should deliver it? Vs a higher margin 5GT that is more attuned to American desires? |

So Friggin' *hot*!!
I, too, believe BMW is making a *HUGE* mistake by substituting the GT for the F11 in the North American market. We americans ALREADY have enough fat asses to look at - why do we need a VEHICLE with ungainly proportions?!
This F11 is a STUNNER - even in green (not my favorite color) it looks incredible! Yes, I'd pay $60,000 for an F11 (preferably a 530d with a stick, of course) - but I won't even consider the bloated GT. When the time comes, I guess I will have to settle for an Audi A6 Avant (not as dynamic as a BMW, but nice interior and you can still get one in America with a stick). Too bad. I *LOVE* this car - but until BMW gets their shit together and brings more diesel/manual transmission models (instead of spending $$$$ on hybrids and SUVs), I'm going to have to spend *MY* $$ elsewhere. |

Import rules
For a very long period of time, USA buyers who hated the ML-class began looking for the Mercedes-Benz Gelundewagen (sp.?) and were forced to go to the black-market. How'd *THEY* do it? It must be POSSIBLE, right?!?!?
Now, M-B turned face and has been importing the "G-Class" for the USA. I'm sure they don't sell very many (especially at $102,000), but there is a market for both ML- and G-classes (if not the R-class). Additionally, their G-class hasn't changed much in that time, so any money they spent getting the vehicle ready for US regualtions has most likely been amortized. Perhaps BMW will bring the F11 to the US market in another year or two when it realizes that the GT isn't selling as well as they needed (or hoped!). SO, if anyone knows of a "specailized vehicle importer" who may be able to get me an F11, PLEASE send me contact information!!!!!! |

NO ONE buys the current 5 series wagon because it is FUGLY UGLY!!! The E60 barely works as a sedan... as a wagon it is hideous. BMW should signify sporty luxury but the E61 screams nothing but GRANNY WAGON.
This right here though... WOW! The F11 design is a night and day difference. If I could afford one and it were offered here, I would buy it in a heart beat. It would be an extreme oversight to not offer this in the states... |

Sweet wagons. I could see myself in that blue 535.
They definately need to bring that wagon to NA. Even if it is just one model.....maybe a 535xi diesel? Please. |

I predict Acura will benefit from Mercedes' and BMW's mistake of not selling their wagons here in the US. Neither Volvo, VW or Subaru are luxury, even though they claim to be.
Americans are falling out of love with SUVs and if gas spikes again, they will be falling out of love with crossovers too. The VW TDI wagon sells like hotcakes. So this Fall Acura is selling a TSX wagon in the US - supposed to get 20MPG city and 30 hwy. We can only hope BMW will sell a diesel wagon here next year after getting their clock cleaned by Acura. Cheers! |

20 inch wheels on the 530d look great.
Rear lights only have 2 LED's strips. Saloon has 3 and looks better for it.

hunh. good catch. I agree. Comparing the f10 and f11 lights, it looks like those on the touring are slightly shorter (vs. just having fewer LEDs in the same shape).
