Hi all,

just wanted to know if anyone else have experienced or knows about turbo problems with the 535d engine?

My car is 2.5 months old and have done 4900km. This week driving off for work I heard a strange sound, like a small siren type sound. Took a while to realize it was my car making the noise(!).

Needless to say I diverted and drove straight to the dealership, no warning indication from the car what so ever though.

It turns out that after examination (had to leave the car and get a loaner) they called me up and told me that they need to change the smaller of the two turbo units.

- Might the engine have taken damage somehow by the turbo failure?

- Anyone else that have experienced this or have heard about this?

It's a bit (a lot!) disappointing since it gives a bad vibe ... I was planning to keep this car for a while, say a few years, and I am now worried that it's a lemon that will give me more problems, even worse after the warranty period have expired (two years here in Sweden).

Thoughts or comments?

on the german forum, there are a number of 535d owners with engine failures. all were given a new engine as a replacement..

I had 2 times a turbo failure with my 740d. Last time ik took 3 weeks to solve the problem. This and other problems made me decide to trade in my 740d for a 530d.
