Passenger seat belt rattles?

Anyone else have this issue? Really annoying rattling coming from the buckle. I have to keep pulling it over the head rest to stop it!

Believe it or not I'm on my fourth F10 (!) and they all do it. It seems that after use the belt sometimes retracts in such a way that the metal buckle is twisted towards the B pillar. Solution I've found is just ensure the metal buckle is towards the inside of the car so that the cloth loops hit the pillar first, if that makes sense. Just gently pull out the belt a little and let it retract ( the tendency to twist is exaggerated if deployed from a fully out position).

just make sure it rests on the side suport of the seat rather than just hang down where it will knock against the b pillar and make that annoying noise as you drive over bumps.

I pull the belt over the side bolster which stops it completely, although this probably only works with sport seats.

What is inducing the rattles, vibrations from the chassis, or the 'diesel' engine?

535i's passenger seat belt buckle is silent, the buckle just sits up against the top anchor.

The buckle seems to slide down the belt and finish up banging against the middle of the pillar as I drive. I've slid the plastic stop up the belt which cures it but it must slide down again as I seldom have passengers yet the buckle still finishes up at waist level.

Yes that is what I do. Seems annoying to have to do that in a premium car! I may look if a few felt pads strategically positioned on the buckle will stop it.

You have sports seats in your car Pete? I find the problem is that when left to return of it's own accord the seat belt catches the sports seat side bolster so it doesn't sit flat against the B pillar. The seat belt sits at around a 45 degree angle causing the buckle to vibrate against the B pillar.

The only cure I have found is to manually place on the seat bolster or set the seat so far back that it doesn't catch. It's not a diesel specific issue as many U.S. owners are reporting the same issue...

Yes, have the sport seats.

See what you mean, I must be too tidy. If the belt gets left like that by a passenger, I always put it back behind the side of the seat, where it is supposed to be.

I fixed this by telling the Wife to make sure it rests correctly on the side when she gets out! It's a right bloody pain hearing it on the way to work in the morning, when all you want is to listen to the radio.

Yes mine does it too..a rather weirdly small annoying thing in an otherwise extraordinarily good car.

Drives me insane, I was actually going to start a post about this to see if it was just me, I guess not, my e60 never did this.

But like most others I hook round the side bolster of the chair, crazy!!

You'd think the testers would notice this and feed back to the engineering team before it ends up in production.

I have the exact same annoyance :/ LOL
I do the same as most of you and pull it towards me so it rests on the seat side bolster.
