The attached photo shows the journey computer on my 535d with sport auto.
As the engine loosens up I fully expect the figure to read 40+. It's a fantastic drive train and a great car, only let down by the steering, but that's another story...

Here is my statistics:
http://www.spritmonitor.de/de/detailansicht/429406.html

Basically; highway doing something like 80mph, you get about 6,5l/100km = something like 44mpg.

In the city, with alot of cold starts, short distances, i get seomthing like 10l/100km which translates to 28-29mpg.

Very reasonable for such a big car with 245hp and auto tranny...

My 535d F10 did 9,0 l/100 km on average, the first 5.000 km.

That's about 60% highway and 40% city/urban. NL is heavily congested so, highway means stop and go most of the time.

I also used the "normal" mode within adaptive drive 70% of the time.

I think that 9,0 l. is disappointing. Especially because I am still quite easy on the engine.
For my next bimmer, I would seriously consider a petrol engine.

if you average 9 with a diesel, a petrol engine will take you into the 12s/13s very easily...

I have always thought the same till I really drove a petrol engine and compared the consumption : easily 3-4l more specially with stop and go...

I am expecting 25/30MPG out of town driving the 550i M Sport, I don't drive much short journeys or in towns.
A Diesel would be much better. I just like the power of the V8.

I get 23/24MPG from the E90 2010 M3, so with 8 speeds and 80MPH @ 1800 rpm, on a cruise it should be doable easy, hard driving well no chance.
PS) can't understand a word of the link!!!!!!!!!

Funny to see how we keep mixing MPG and l./100 km in this thread.

I honestly have no feeling for the MPG averages and I suspect the same is true for most Americans/Canadians/Brits etc. when they see the l./100 km averages (frequently used in continental Europe). To make things even more complicated, in some countries, Holland for example, the standard is x km per 1 liter.

BTW, Canadians use metric (l/100km).

I know exactly what you mean - it's called international standardisation .
I just found this: http://www.eforecourt.com/l_100km_mpg_convert.htm

Not to mention, unless I'm wrong, that US mpg (based on US gallon) is not the same as UK mpg (based on imperial gallon).
