Update to Satnav maps?

Hi, I hear there are ways to upgrade the maps with ones you download off the web and a code you can buy. My maps are from my build date, Jan 2011, and the roads where I live have been rerouted with the new A46. BMW prices are utterly ridiculous - what are they on?
Can anyone share the details please? Or PM me those details?
TIA,
Steve

Email ***************** - he will sell you the FSC Activation Code for $50. You need to give him your chassis number.

The discs are available to download from various torrent sites or you can buy them for BMW (without a code) for £26.

When you update the maps and see how long it takes, you will then see why they charge the amount they do if the labour involved....

there is NO labour involved. I have updated the maps three years running. All you need to do is stick the first disk in. when it is done you stick the second in and then the third. The whole process takes two hours and you can pick up from where you left as many times as you need to.

The dealer doesn't do it through disks. It's connected to the machine and downloaded that way direct from Germany, all the time it's sat there downloading, a technician is assigned to it hence the labour cost.

Even at two hours dealer rates, with VAT your looking at £250 just in labour.

Why wouldn't the dealer use the same DVDs? They do car firmware updates through a centralised download but not map updates. It takes about 45 minutes through USB.

Do not do it at the dealer then. Where is the problem? Buy the dsks and do it yourself. It is nothing technical or complicated...

That's how we've all done it, I was just explaining where the dealers get to the prices they charge.
