Headlight Protection
Has anyone on the forum installed themselves any of the numerous 3M type clear vinyl kits on their headlights? If so, was courious how it worked on the curvature of these new lights. I'm starting to pick up some pits in the plastic and want to know if these are tough to install verses the ones I did myself on my old E39. (Which was a flatter assembly.)

I went with Ventureshield (which is owned by 3M) and installed by outstide tinting company. This happened about 1 month after I picked up the car.
For me, the film does the job very well by protecting the salt & debris in our Canadian winter environment. Cost of installed (all) about $80 for both headlights. Note: The installer did not have the F10 headlight template at the time and had to free hand it. But the guy is a Pro. |

I also have the Venturesheild on the front of the car. I'm not sure it's that easy to do by yourself.

Dealer did the whole front & 1/4 front of hood for me. I think it was a wise investment. Can't see it if you don't look closely.

Yeah,
Now thinking that I may get the whole front end done....looking into the place that does all the dealers cars. I think around $420 for the full Bumper, Headlight, and Fogs. I've done headlights before as I mentioned.....but the whole Bumper is way beyond what I would want to tackle. |

Yes to both. Especially the Highway part. This car just wants to get in the fast lane all the time....and that's where all the crud gets kicked up. Can't help myself.

Put your zip code here;
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3.../Where_to_Buy/ Click Venturesheild box and how far you're willing to travel. Call the places find out how long they have been in business, what the warranty situation is and the different price points for exactly what you want done. Good luck.

Do you know what the difference is between Ventureshield and Scotchguard? Both say paint protection. I know Scotchgaurd is 3M product but thought Ventureshield was as well. |

Scotchguard was 3M's original film and the early version were $h*t. Venturesheild was a competing product, until 3M flexed their 66 billion dollar muscle and bought them out. I'm not sure if the two products are now the same or different, but my feeling is if 3M's product was so good, why did they feel the need to buy Venturesheild.
