Rim Colour for TiAg
Hi Peeps
I want to order a new set of summer shoes for my ride and unfortunately I can't get to see them in person before I order them as the Oz Distributor for HRE is 1500 Klms away. Soooo ... I can only speculate as to what colour HRE P101's (Monoblock) might look like on my TiAg (Titan Silver) F10. I like the barrell of the rim to be smooth and easy to clean so I was thinking of a two tone (brushed alloy face with painted windows and barrells). On the other hand a set of rims that are 100% brushed clear will allow me to paint the brake calipers whereas the two tone option with painted brake calipers might be a little too busy looking. My questions are: 1 - Does two tone look cool (if the answer is no then 100% brushed clear might be the way to go)? 2 - If the answer is yes then what two tone colour looks clean and aggressive on Silver? 3 - If two tone is not cool and brushed clear is too boring then may I ask you to suggest other non-two tone colours? To make matters more complicated I was planning on upgrading to an Alpine White 535D LCI within the next 12 months and it would be great if the new rims also looked good on AW. Can you guys give me the skinny on what you think looks nasty -v- naff because it's doing my head in. Be brutal ... Thanks heaps. PS: I've posted a few pics to allow you to visualise but they are not all HRE P101's and are just there to demonstrate colour options.

First, you don't need a two-tone for the smooth cleaning, the brushed finishes have the same powder clearcoat.
So I see no reason for a two-tone, I also believe the two-tone costs even more than brushed. Most finishes will look good on TiAg, and even more so on AW. Unless you are doing something with colors, you can choose from four kinds of brushed (clear, tinted clear, dark clear, titanuim) and charcoal, silver and black.

Check out this finish I saw at HRE last time I was there. They were brushed clear in the face and the windows look like titanium. In person they looked AMAZING!

HRE's are SWEET! I just can't put them on my daily driver… as they WILL get banged up.
I would vote for the dark 'shadow' tinted brushed to have the contrast. Best of luck!!

Looks like brushed tinted clear (or brushed dark) and charcoal.

I can't find any up close images of HRE wheels showing the difference between clear, clear tinted, and dark clear. Anyone able to help?

hey Jet, how u been?
wheels should b a focal point of a car n not jus blend in, they should contrast the factory paint. light color car = dark wheels dark color car = light wheels since u hav tiag now n plan on replacin it w/ aw i think either titanium, brushed dark, or gloss charcoal would look best, if u wanna play it safe. if u wanna b bold go w/ either bronze, copper, rose gold, or gold. n if u jus wanna raise ur middle finger up 2 everbody go w/ white (ya i kno this contradicts wut i said), neon green, red, or blue. hope i didn't complicate ur decision even more, jus makin sure u explore all options n not 2nd guess b4 it's too late.

Just picked up some Bronze wheels for the Titanium 535. Slapping them on Friday. stay tune and hopefully it will make your decision easier. Went with the Silver and Bronze, since I got into the car scene. Not sure if you remember, back in the silver civic and integra days with the bronze ce28 and te37...to the subaru sti silver and bronze. |

Hey Infamous. I been good. It's Hot as Hades over here in Oz at the mo with our Summer kickin in (40 to 46 degree celsius heatwave - hottest on record but the babes in bikinis are everywhere ... Oohwee!). Back to biz ... I totes agree with you on the contrasting colours. The clear finish would still work but then it's a bit safe and I've done safe before. I want the wheels to pop without saying pimp if you know what I mean (so red, green, white and blue might be pushing the envelope just a bit too far for this li'l racer ... ha ha). I kinda like the bronze and know that they would work well with AW but some muppet warned me not to put bronze on a silver car and I've had that in my head ever since. 100% bronze is brassy so was thinking something a bit different might be brushed clear face with bronze windows and barrell as I haven't seen anything done like that before. That's a dilemma in itself though cos I can't find any images with the bronze behind the clear face by any wheel maker. Closest I could find was the Porsche above (bronze on brushed). That said, if peeps think that bronze/clear combo would be catastrophic then brushed clear face with charcoal windows/barrells is a real option. The brushed clear face and black combo isn't getting any votes from the guys in Bimmerpost World. Thanks for all your recommendations.

thas why i asked bc it's on the news here bout how hot it is down under... bikini babes 365 days a year ftw! yeee
now, in regards 2 two-tone, post #3 by SDf10, either that exact finish or the opposite (dark grey face + silver barrels) is ur answer. i kinda like ur idea of silver face + bronze barrels. it's sketchy, but i've never seen that b4. maybe 4 good reason? imo goin w/ two-tone u should stick with the same color, jus different shades. if u did get silver face + bronze barrels, there's a much greater chance of u gettin bored easier/faster than if went w/ silver face + dark grey barrels/dark grey face + silver barrels. conclusion; play it safe.

Raw! You gotta be happy with them. Bet they look even sharper in person. They definitely sit well with the fenders. Spacers?
