2014 550xi M-Sport - 20" 343M Rims & Tires from M5

Hi all! I am about to pickup my '14 550i X-Drive (M-Sport) next week, and I have had my eye on the M5 wheels for a while. I just picked up a complete set from a forum member here.

Stock M5 20" Style 343M Rims, Tires & TPMS

Fronts: 265/35R20 Michelin PSS on BMW 343M rims
Rears: 295/30R20 Michelin PSS on BMW 343M rims

Question:

1. Will I have a problem running a staggered setup on my AWD 550? I don't want to throw codes or dis-engage my AWD system or ABS system.

I have an X-Drive vehicle. I have read conflicting information regarding running staggered wheels on an AWD setup. From my understanding you can get an EU-spec 550xi with staggered wheels from the factory in Germany ... but not in the US!?!

2. Will these stock M5 wheels & tires physically fit (without rubbing, etc) simply by placing these onto my 550xi ... or do i need spacers, etc.?

I have the Adaptive Drive, Active-Roll Stabilization, Dynamic Handling Package on my 550xi, and I do not plan to make any suspension changes from the factory setup.

Thank you in advance for your expert advice.

Edit: removed reference to the option of purchasing Avant Garde M355 wheels ... decided I wanted to step-up to 20" and heard several issues with finish quality over time. Only interested in the 343M BMW OEM wheels, and stock tires from 2013/4 M5.

You'll need the M355 19x9 ET35 front and 19x10 ET38 rear if you want staggered.

It seems to be no problem running staggered tires on the xdrive as long as the tire diameter front and rear don't vary too much.

But the OEM M5 wheels that looks like the M355 are 20", so do you want 19" or 20"?

I have a brand new set of avant garde M355 wheels. 19X9 35ET and 19X10 38ET with 255/40/19 on the front and 285/35/19 on the rear. Michelin AS3 tires. They've been road force balanced perfectly and are hub centric. Paid $2400 and I'll sell for $2000. This set will fit your car with no modification. My car is a stock Msport. Only 120 miles on them. I was struggling to decide between 19's and 20's when I ordered. Now I'm wanting the 20's.

I have a set I use for winter. Didn't work out so well -- they are starting to oxidize from the salt.

I was considering these AG's ... however I really want the 20" 343Ms ... just trying to justify spending the $$$.

Bump ... just bought the 20" OEM BMW 343M wheels & tires from an M5 board member here. Now need help with fitment on 550xi, as well as staggered setup questions on an X-Drive.

Hey Antonio,

Buyer for my OE M5 wheels and tires came to my house yesterday for install and pickup. It was a 525i and the stock wheels and stock 295 rears and 265 fronts fit perfectly. No spacer was required and no rubbing occurred on out test drive. The look is a little aggressive and on the next tire change I'd recommend going to the 285 but the 295 do not look out of place. I have pictures of the install and will post up soon.

Mike,

Thanks ... I appreciate the info ... I pickup my 550xi tomorrow, and look forward to throwing these on. I'm glad they fit without issue/spacers needed. I was worried about the fronts w/ 265s ... but this definately reassures me.

Too bad I didn't know you were selling your wheels ... I literally bought them off another M5 board member a few days before I bought your exhaust. Looking forward to the install on that as well!

Thanks again!

As long as the Xi front brake is no different than the 2wd cars then you should be all clear without a spacer.

Not sure ... however they DO NOT fit a 550xi ... the spokes on the wheel just barely, but still do hit the caliper!

Added 5mm spacer up front ... seems to do the trick to clear the caliper ... going on an extended ride tomorrow ... we'll see about rubbing ... but driving around town ... no issues so far!

Old thread but did the 5mm spacer help with rubbing and did that fix the issue with the front rims?

Which 3mm spacer do you use and did you feel any vibration?

I'm not sure if i should get the hub centric spacer or not for the m343 rim
